Tai Chi Instructor (Yang Style – Health & Self Defense)
Certified Tai Chi Instructor (Level II), American Tai Chi & Qigong Association (ATCQA)
I teach Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan for health cultivation and practical self-defense, rooted in the teachings of Master Huang Sheng Shyan. My instruction integrates material from Mark Rasmus’s Elastic Force teacher training program, along with over a decade of influence from Yizong Gao style Baguazhang, Hebei Xingyiquan, and Heaven–Man–Earth Yang Style Taijiquan. My approach emphasizes body mechanics, elastic force development, structural alignment, relaxation under pressure, and functional movement principles applicable to both martial and therapeutic contexts.
From January 30, 2023 to November 1, 2025, I served in the VA as a full-time competitive service Tai Chi Instructor with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Prescott, AZ and Manchester, NH within the Whole Health and Pain/Rehabilitation divisions. I provided group and individual instruction to veterans with complex medical conditions including PTSD, TBI, Military Sexual Trauma (MST), musculoskeletal disorders, diabetes, chronic pain, and mobility impairments. I developed and delivered Tai Chi programs supporting fall prevention, stress reduction, weight management, functional rehabilitation, and integrative pain management, contributing to interdisciplinary care teams focused on non-pharmacological treatment strategies.
